Certified EHR Technology consists of Complete EHR or Modular EHR systems that are tested and certified in accordance with NIST testing procedures (see http://healthcare.nist.gov/use_testing/finalized_requirements.html).
Complete EHR systems refer to Technology that meets, at a minimum, all applicable criteria for Ambulatory and Inpatient systems as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). EHR Modules are any service, component, or combination thereof that meets at least one certification criterion. Certification also means that a Complete EHR or Moduler EHR must be tested and certified for at least nine clinical quality measures for Ambulatory systems. Inpatient systems are required to be tested and certified for all of the clinical quality measures defined by CMS. please see Meaningful Use and Certification link).
Once an EHR system has undergone Testing in accordance with applicable standards and certification criteria, InfoGard will submit the information to the ONC for posting on the ONC-CHPL Web site. The EHR Vendor will be provided with the InfoGard Certified Logo verifying that the product qualifies for Meaningful Use implementation by the eligible Hospital or Professional.
