InfoGard provides validation services and security expertise for medical devices.

FIPS 140-2 Validation required by Department of Veterans Affairs

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) now requires FIPS 140-2 validation. The VA has issued Handbook 6500 to provide specific procedures and operational requirements to implement VA Directive 6500, Information Security Program, to ensure department wide compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA), and the security of VA information and information systems administered by the VA, or on their behalf. Handbook 6500 is applicable to all VA organizations and administrations.

InfoGard, the world's leading crypto validation laboratory focuses on healthcare's growing needs for robust cryptographic applications to solve identity, authentication, and security challenges. We are pleased to be conducting FIPS 140-2 validations for products for use by the VA.

The VA Information Security Handbook 6500 can be downloaded from the VA website.
