Australian Payments Clearing Association (APCA) Evaluation

The APCA, created in 1992 by Australian banks, building societies and credit unions, oversees the payments clearing operations aspect of the Australian payments system.

Supplemental to PCI PTS device approval, the APCA requires that all devices used for Consumer Electronic Clearing System (CECS) transactions in Australia undergo evaluation against the CECS device security standards. These devices include the following product types:

  • Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)
  • Point of Sale (POS) Devices
  • Encrypting PIN Pads (EPPs)
  • Security Control Modules (SCMs)
  • Unattended Payment Terminals (UPTs)
  • Key Loading and Transfer Devices
