Cryptographic Knowledge

InfoGard's expert knowledge of Cryptography provides unrivaled support for clients whose programs depend on this discipline for the underpinning of their application and the swift certification of their product.

InfoGard developed the testing process for Hardware Security Modules, the category description for commercial Cryptographic Modules used in the Finance industry. Expertise in Cryptographic Module Validation per Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 is essential for several programs that InfoGard has helped develop, including the FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Module Validation Program, Postal Meter Validation, and the Certification for HHS Safe Harbor from Breach Reporting.

To achieve the Security and Privacy requirements for Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances (EPCS), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) employs Cryptographic protection and heavily references the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) specifications. For example, in the March 31, 2010, EPCS Interim Final Rule (IFR),  FIPS 140-2 is cited 29 times.

In Stage 2 of Meaningful Use EHR Certification, Security requirements will be more robust, and Cryptography knowledge will become essential.
